Last month, a passenger bus slammed into exactly 10 vehicles at a stoplight in South Brunswick. The Coach USA bus crashed through two lanes of cars stopped at a red light. The victims with the more serious injuries included a 35-year-old man with a fractured back and a 61-year-old woman with a fractured pelvis and ribs. Jackknifing describes when the back end of a semi-truck swings out to one side while the cab faces forward. These dangerous accidents can cause multiple other accidents with vehicles on the road. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has estimated that jackknifing incidents have about a five percent fatality rate and, within a few moments, these accidents can cause life-threatening injuries to other motorists. A South Brunswick truck accident on January 27 caused heavy traffic on the New Jersey Turnpike when a tractor-trailer jackknifed and blocked all lanes. Similarly, a Trenton truck accident caused minor injuries and traffic delays on Route 78 on January 21 after a tractor-trailer jackknifed and hit two other vehicles. New Jersey State Police reported that the truck collided…
