Police Officer Pleads Guilty to North Brunswick Accident that Killed One

A North Brunswick police officer admitted in court on November 13 to joyriding on duty in a sports car that killed his passenger and fellow officer in August of 2008 in Middlesex County. Keith Buckley pleaded guilty to official misconduct and admitted to driving a high-powered Dodge Viper on August 12, 2008 while on duty and “intentionally speeding.” Buckley was joyriding with fellow officer Christopher Zerby while on duty when he lost control of the rented sports car on Route 130 and collided into a utility pole. Zerby was killed in the accident. Buckley had borrowed the car from his brother to drive it during lunchtime. Buckley is now charged with two indictments of second-degree vehicular homicide and official misconduct. A 19-year veteran of the force at the time of the collision, Buckley must forfeit the right to hold public office or a public job, resign from the police department…

Man Arrested in Relation to North Brunswick Accident that Killed One

A man has been arrested after a 22-year-old man was killed in a high speed North Brunswick crash on September 28. Shareef Holder, 28, was arrested with bail set at $1 million after police determined he was the cause of the crash that killed Luis Rodriguez. Holder caused a different New Brunswick crash earlier on the night of September 28 and left the scene of the accident. Police later pulled him over in connection with the crash, and while an officer ran his plate, Holder fled in his vehicle. Minutes later, he hit three cars at a traffic light, one of which was driven by Rodriguez, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Rodriguez leaves behind a girlfriend that is pregnant with twins.
