Seven Vehicle Accident Shuts Down Lanes on New Jersey Turnpike

According to the Westport News in New Jersey, a multiple car accident on June 15 in East Windsor shut down two southbound lanes on the New Jersey Turnpike for several hours. In total, seven vehicles were involved in the car accident, including a commercial truck.

The car accident occurred on the Jersey Turnpike in Mercer County on Wednesday afternoon. Officials were advising motorists to take other routes if possible. Six people suffered injuries following the car accident although none were said to be life-threatening.

This car accident is following delays that were already expected on the New Jersey Turnpike for a series of bridge deck repairs. Investigators did not release the names of people involved in the car accident or suggest a possible cause.

“I encourage everyone who either lives in Jersey City or commutes here to work to pay attention to the signage alerting drivers to the construction and to plan alternative routes to and from work,” Mayor Jerramiah Healy states on the city’s website. “Those who can, should avoid using the Turnpike extension during peak hours if at all possible, especially during the first few days the work begins.”
