Four young New Jersey football players were killed in a tragic car accident on August 20, according to CityOfMoms.com. The community of Linwood is deeply saddened this week by the loss of the 4 teenagers. Four other teenagers were also injured in the accident.
The driver—17-year-old Casey Brenner—lost control of his truck in heavy traffic near the Garden State Parkway area while on the way to a team organized meal. The truck rolled over several times, ejecting two of the passengers—one who was stuck by a passing car, according to Sgt. Julian Castellanos of the New Jersey State Police. All eight teens played for the Mainland Regional High School football team.
“I can’t remember anything that has ever happened that is more devastating than this,” said Linwood Mayor Rick DePamphilis III. “Mainland Regional football is a family type of thing.”
Officials offered counseling services on the following day to anyone who thought they might benefit from it.
