A truck accident in New Jersey on August 24 has sent two people to the hospital, according to several sources. Multiple injuries were reported after the tractor-trailer collided with a bus on the New Jersey Turnpike.
The bus was traveling from New York to Washington and carrying 55 passengers. Two of the passengers suffered serious injuries, according to Sgt. Stephen Jones. Many more people received minor injuries—some reports said as many as 30—but refused treatment.
“My understanding is that the only significant injuries were to people on the bus,” said Tom Feeney of the Turnpike Authority. “I can’t tell you for sure that the truck driver was not injured, but if he was his injuries were not serious.”
The driver of the bus, 52-year-old Andy Lynch, was critically injured in the accident. He was pronounced dead two days after the accident.
The bus is registered to D&C Trailways, based in Maryland. Police are still investigating the accident, and no citations have been issued at this time.
