Massachusetts Cyclist Killed in Semi-Truck Accident

A Massachusetts woman is dead after a FedEx freight truck struck her as she was riding her bicycle in New Bedford, according to sources. The fatal truck accident occurred on March 21 in the New Bedford Industrial Park complex. Dartmouth Police responded to the scene on Barnett Boulevard after a call about Cynthia Pacheco, 58, being hit by a truck.

According to police the reports, driver Mark Sims, 38, claims he was making a left turn before striking the cyclist. Responders rushed Pacheo to the Rhode Island Hospital, where she died from her injuries.

The truck accident remains under investigation, according to Officer Peter Canuel. The Massachusetts State Police Truck Team leads the investigation.
