A truck accident killed one and injured another in Florida on February 6, according to WSVN.com. The accident occurred around 5:30 p.m. when a Tracy Bakery box truck crashed into a guardrail on an overpass above I-95 in Fort Lauderdale. One of the truck’s passengers was found unresponsive in the cab of the truck, and the other was found dangling over the side of the overpass.
Firefighters rescued the distressed victim using a ladder truck.
“They were able to send the ladder up to the cab of the suspended truck,” said Fort Lauderdale Police Detective Deana Garcia. “They got the driver out of the cab of the truck and they assisted him to crawl down the ladder to safety.”
The accident remains under investigation. It is fortunate the truck did not drop onto I-95 from the overpass—there could have been many more casualties.
“It is very upsetting to hear what happened,” said Mary Rodrigues, owner of the bakery. “We don’t know how the accident occurred, but when there’s a fatality involved, it’s very difficult.”
