A truck accident involving a tanker truck and a tour bus slowed traffic on the New Jersey Turnpike for hours on May 17, according to the Washington Post. No one was seriously injured after a Coach USA bus collided with the truck, which was heading in the same direction on the turnpike, according to New Jersey State Police Lt. Stephen Jones.
The Coach USA bus was headed from Manhattan to Washington. No passengers suffered injuries, and they were transferred onto another bus. The truck driver suffered minor injuries when his rig slid off the road following the collision.
To date in 2012, there have been 215 fatal accidents and 277 lives lost across the state, according to the New Jersey State Police. Considering the size and speed of both these vehicles, the damage could have been significant. A thorough investigation of this accident is necessary to help reduce the risk of future truck accidents.
