A New York truck accident on December 27 left the driver with serious injuries, according to RecordOnline.com. The driver, 62-year-old Ralph Rickert of Long Island, veered off the shoulder of the New York State Thruway.
Rickert was hauling a shipment for Sunnyside Garage in Castleton when he lost control and hit several trees. The Bloomington Fire Department and Rosendale Fire Department responded to the accident and pulled Rickert from the cab of the truck, as well as the New York City Department of Environmental Protection Police who passed by the scene during a training exercise.
A Mobile Life Ambulance Transported Rickert to the Westchester Medical Center with chest and leg injuries, and authorities shut down the road for an hour and a half. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
