Three people were seriously injured in a truck accident on the New Jersey Turnpike on August 25, according to sources. According to CBS News, a car and a semi-truck collided in Leonia. The car was traveling northbound in the express lane when it was forced to slow down for traffic. The truck failed to slow down and slammed into the rear end of the car.
The truck pinned the car against the concrete barrier and dragged it for a half mile. The truck eventually hit a third vehicle before coming to rest. All three drivers were taken to the hospital with injuries. The accident remains under investigation.
It seems for some reason that the truck driver was not paying attention to the road before the collision, assuming his brakes were working properly. Police should summon the driver’s phone records; this smells like an accident due to a distracted driver.
