New Jersey woman suffered serious injuries following a car accident on August 4, according to NorthJersey.com.
Police identified the woman who was injured as Kuleena Kavunkal, 22, of Bogota. According to police reports, Kavunkal, who was driving a Toyota Celica, hit the back end of a tractor-trailer and became wedged underneath it on Route 80 shortly before 7 a.m. Lt. Stephen Jones also said that at some point the car hit a concrete barrier on the shoulder of the highway.
Kavunkal was not conscious but was breathing after the accident and was rushed to Hackensack University Medical Center. The truck driver—Randy Bartholomew, 42—was not injured.
Witnesses said that Kavunkal merged into the back of the truck, and that the truck was not switching lanes. The accident remains under investigation.
